At A Wedding Reception on June 24, 2012....

Grandma Lailatool and her darling, Ah Kau invited a group of ASI buddies to their third daughter's wedding dinner on 24th June 2012 at the Taming Sari Ballroom of the Royale Chulan, KL. The Taming Sari Ballroom brought back sweet memories of the DSS biography launch on Jan 15 2012 for some of us who were present at the reception (me and Kat, Hau Kiang, Tan Sri Nuraizah, Dato' Salleh Yeop, and Ahmad Sarkawi).

"Listen! Do you want to know a secret?'

'You are still not convinced I am a 'virgin' MC ah?'
When Ah Kau delivered his very eloquent speech, he admitted that he was instructed by Grandma to specially mention the presence of Grandma's Andersonian buddies......now you know for certainty who is the boss. Although, we did offer and insisted, our Andersonian Forever choir was not called upon to sing at the reception. We waited and waited.....see how dissapointed Sarkawi, our lead singer was.

Nevertheless, we had a good time bersembang,sembang....our special acknowledgement goes to Wong Poh Lam and wife who drove all the way from Butterworth to be with the gang.

Many thanks, Grandma and Ah Kau....please continue to be good.

How To Win A Major in Golf.....to strive, to seek, to find and not to yield!

Let me share with you a lesson in perseverance. On 12th July, I was golfing with Dato' Salleh Yeop (our not so virgin MC) at the ASOBA annual golf competition held at the Monterrez Golf and Country Club(Hau Kiang and Merlyn was on another flight) At the 10th hole (a par 5), Dato' Salleh's crucial third shot landed on the green but rolled out and landed in the rough near a tree. He was really determined to find his ball and his determination was eventually rewarded with a par for that hole....and not only that, he scored a birdie for the next hole and had pars for the next 2 holes. And that was how he won the 5th place in the competition. View the video below for a classic example of a man practicing his school's motto " To Strive, to seek, to find and not to Yield."
Also, this time around his bunker shots really put Tiger Woods (the real one) to shame unlike the last time he played with us (me, Hau Kiang and Merlyn....our local Tiger Woods) on 29th February 2012. On that day, he cleared one bunker to enter another bunker and in one bunker he took 5 shots before he could get the ball out....another example of perseverance. (I would have taken the ball and thrown it onto the green). View the video below to see how Dato' Salleh tamed the bunkers this time.....believing is seeing.

Bravo, Dato' Salleh,

'Happy' Fasting or 'Selamat Berpuasa'.....

Time really passes by real fast. It is puasa time already and before you know it, Hari Raya will be on soon.....any plans for open house as yet? Meantime, please allow me and my darling, Ah Kat to wish all our Muslim classmates and friends.....Selamat Berpuasa. If you have to eat, do eat in moderation.....otherwise the real objective of fasting will be lost. We should be losing the extra pounds instead of gaining weight after the 30 days of fasting.....basic science?
Best Wishes and Salam to all,

Sek Yee and Ah Kat (my darling)

A Wedding in Ipoh on July 8, 2012

On Sunday 8th July, we (me and Ah Kat ) together with our Uncle Selvamany were invited by Tuan Haji Tauhid, the Penolong Kanan of Anderson School, to attend his third son's wedding in Ipoh. We also brought along Raphail Sulaiman (Kat's nephew who is in Form 2 in ASI ). It was indeed a very good kenduri lunch (see Kat's and DSS's plates). We spent most of the time speaking to the various teachers who were there at the same time. All the teachers who passed by our table seems to know DSS as well as Raphail (one of the teachers told me that he is the school's private investigator).

ASOBA 'Ahyaluddin Golf 2012' on July 12, 2012

On July 12th, we (me, Hau Kiang, Merlyn and Dato' Salleh) participated in this year's annual ASOBA golf competition for the Ahyaluddin Trophy at the Monterrez Golf and Country Club, KL. Although it was only a small group, we enjoyed ourselves and had the opportunity to meet up with our other senior Andersonians like Tan Sri Sallehuddin, Tan Sri Zahidi,K Anandarajah,Raja Aznin, etc. In fact, most of the participants are in the 7 series and they call us junior Andersonians.

Our Dato' Salleh won the 5th prize and Datuk Merlyn (our ASI's Tiger Woods) won the 6th prize. Me and Hau Kiang?.....we won the lucky prizes......obviously, we played like old cows.

Our many thanks to Dato' Salleh for sponsoring us.....we look forward to more of such sponsorship. It was another enjoyable day in our life....no matter how bad you play.....in golf.

Our 'Mystery' Star Owner of the Foot!

Yes, it is the right leg (and there were 2 correct answers to that). However, no one could guess that the right leg belonged to our formidable hockey player, Raja Noora Ashikin. On Friday 4th May, on coming home, she was so excited to see her cucu that she tripped and fell and injured her right foot and had to be wheel-chair bound for about a month. When we came to know about it, a group of us visited Raja Noora at her home in Ampang. Of course our gracious host treated us to a spread of sumptuous food.

We met Raja Noora again on 21/6 and she can walk already, albeit slowly….very soon she should be able to play hockey again.

Take care, Raja Noora
